10K runs in Manchester and London, Summer 2010

Two teams took part in the Great Manchester Run and the British 10K London run this summer to raise money for Springboard for Children. Some were seasoned athletes and others bought their first pair of trainers the day before the race but everyone gave it their all on race day and recorded some excellent times.

So far over £3,500 has been raised and Springboard would like to thank everyone who has worked hard in raising this money. If you are inspired by this and would like to take part in a 10K run for Springboard next year then please get in touch by emailing fundraising@springboard.org.uk.

British 10k Run 2009

Photo: Runners Niki Clarke and Julie Milnthorpe. We had two runners taking part for us in the British 10k Run 2009 on Sunday 12th July! Our very own, Julie Milnthorpe, Lambeth and Islington Hub Manager and her friend Niki Clarke! They ran amazingly, running round the course despite the rain and clouds, in a brilliant 1hour and 15mins!

They rasied a fabulous £885 for Springboard and we would like to thank them for all of their hard work and excellent fundraising efforts! Good job ladies!

London Marathon 2009

The London Marathon took place on 26 April 2009. Our four runners, Ryan Noades, John Hanrahan, Tim Pamphlett and Phillip Clarke, are all staff of HSBC. One of our runners even dyed his hair red to match his Springboard t-shirt. Together they raised £4,337 and counting. Thank you to all four of our runners and to everyone who sponsored them!

Great Manchester Run 2009

Photo: jubilant meddalists. On 17 May 2009, 17 runners took part in the Great Manchester Run on behalf of Springboard for Children. Our runners braved the wind and the rain to reach their 10k target! Some even did the run in fancy dress, including a school-girl! In order to greet, meet and thank our runners properly, we had a stall in the Charity Village, which was located in Manchester Central. The stall offered a great opportunity for all of our runners to meet one another, learn more about Springboard and relax their legs! Our runners have already raised an amazing £3,678 and counting. Thank you to all of our runners and to everyone who sponsored them.

Barn Dance at St Michael's Church, Chester Square – Friday 30 January 2009

Photo: Nathan Harrop and Peter Brunnen. On Friday 30 January 2009, we had a Barn Dance at St Michael's Church, Chester Square. The event was held to raise funds to helps us continue our work with children! The event was a great success and we had 70 people attend the evening!

As well as the very fun barn dancing, we had some fantastic fundraising activities at the barn dance such as our tombola and our silent auction! We gave away 3 ipod shuffles and had signed Arsenal Photo in our silent auction!

The night was enjoyed with some lovely cheese, which was kindly donated to us by The Cheese Cellar and some lovely wine, which was kindly donated to us by one of our regular givers.

The event raised just under £2,000.

Thank you to everyone who took part on the night, our volunteers who helped us run the event and everybody who made a donation or took part in a fundraising event! Can you also please add the attached photo to the text?
