Child learning with teacherThe Literacy Partnership for Primary Schools

You may have seen the recent excellent Channel 4 documentaries ‘Lost for Words’ which highlighted the serious problem of illiteracy among many of our primary school children in the UK.  They profiled the ‘Every Child a Reader’ project which is promoting one to one support for children experiencing difficulties in learning to read and the Ruth Miskin intensive synthetic phonics programme designed for group use.

Springboard for Children is an educational charity totally dedicated to helping children in primary schools acquire basic literacy skills. We use a structured and cumulative synthetic phonics programme similar to those highlighted in the ‘Lost for Words’ programmes.

Springboard for Children works in partnership with primary schools and has done so for over 15 years. Our work programmes fit with the national literacy strategies and have been evaluated favourably by the DfES Literacy Team.

Senior colleagues at the Dyslexia Institute, the Institute of Education and the Department of Psychology at Great Ormond Street Hospital have endorsed our work. Our work is also endorsed by each of our client schools.

"Springboard for Children can be relied upon to give high quality literacy provision to children who experience difficulties in reading and writing. They work with the school, child and parents to transform children from “I can’t” to “I can” people"
- SENCo at Oliver Goldsmith’s Primary School
